Condition note: These castings are from red wiggler worms grown on our farm. We feed them organic materials including: vegetable scraps, compost, coffee grounds, cardboard and paper and various manures (none from meat-eaters). Product is sifted through 1/8" mesh and will contain worm cocoons and possibly various seeds. This is not pasturized, so the natural microorganisms are intact. If left in the sun during shipment a 'funky' odor may occur. Airing out for 24 hours eliminates this.

EISENIA
FETIDA Scientific name for one of several redworm species used for
vermicomposting. Color varies from purple, red, dark red to brownish
red, often with alternating bands of yellow in between segments. Found
in manure, compost heaps, and decaying vegetation where moisture levels
are high. Frequently raised in culture on earthworm farms. See also
