Build a Worm Composter
from JP in Baltimore

Frameing Our first weeks with worms went well, if quietly. We decided to build our own vermicomposting apparatus based on a great Instructable we stumbled across online. After buying scrap wood from the Home Depot (maybe $15 on supplies, including a box of screws and wood glue) and synthetic fabric (another $10 perhaps), we put together our vermicomposting unit, which ended up looking more like a clothes hamper than a compost container.

Very detailed notes on everything from Darwin's explorations into worms to worms invading Minnesota.

Leveling with coir

Struggling with getting Tray #2 to sit evenly on Tray #1?    Coir (shredded coconut bark) or peat moss  can be handy for filling in the surface, and the worms will convert it to castings!
Sorting a Bin
Jeff's Video

A brief video of sorting out a worm bin.

I use the batch method, so sorting a bin after several months can be an adventure!
