Gettysburg National Military Park in the Fall
Dear Jeff,

November has arrived, along with the cooler fall weather. We prepare now for the closing event of the Lincoln Bicentennial with Dedication Day on November 19. That weekend, the annual Remembrance Day Parade, Illumination and Civil War Balls will honor those who fought during the Civil War. We invite you to return the following weekend as we kick off the holidays with our Christmas Parade - the first of many events the will showcase the Sounds of the Holidays in Gettysburg.

Celebrate the Sounds of the Holidays in Gettysburg

It seems that 2009 went faster than any year in history. It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away! In Gettysburg, that means the arrival of the holiday season. The first official event actually takes place tomorrow with the lighting of the Boyds Bear Country Christmas Tree.

Beginning Shriver ChristmasThanksgiving evening, and continuing through December 19, experience a Candlelight Christmas Tour of the Shriver House. The home will be decorated in period decor as you learn how the Shrivers, and families in that time, celebrated the holidays.

November 28, welcome Santa to town during the 22nd Annual Christmas Parade. Caroling starts at 6:30 pm and the parade steps off at 7 pm. Come early to shop and stay late to visit with Santa on the historic Lincoln Square. That weekend, frolic at the Land of Little Horses' Christmas in the Country Open House from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

On December 4, honor our fallen, and Gettysburg's own St. Eric wreathsMcColley, at the Soldiers' National Cemetery when wreaths will be laid on the graves of hundreds of veterans.
